Eric's talk covers the history of Arctic whaling and its relationship to Leith.

From 1750 until 1830 the ports of the Forth were extensively engaged in Arctic whaling. At its height, one third of the British whaling fleet was Scottish owned and based and Trinity House licensed pilots were employed in the safe navigation of the Forth and its harbours.
